Fundraising News!

The Readathon was a huge success! Thanks to our ravenous readers, our students raised over $8500!   7 students won $20 gift cards to Chapters!  Two students, in classes 3L and 5T, won pizza parties for their whole class! We will keep you posted as to when the gift cards and pizza parties will happen.

Our 50/50 raffle was also a huge success, raising over $4000! It was won by a parent in our school, Shawn Fraser, who donated it all back to the school! Thank you to the Fraser family for this very generous gesture!

Our fabulous Fundraising Society is continuing to raise funds for the expansion our existing playground!

  • We estimate needing $335 000 (and this is subject to increase as the costs for supplies increase)
  • Due to past efforts (hot lunch days, treat days, casino funds, and other fundraisers) plus a generous gift of $25 000 from Strathcona County means that we currently have over $98 000 in the bank.
  • We are hoping to break ground in 2022.

Thank you!

  • to those families who brought their recycling to the Bottle drive on October 13 and who continue to donate through
  • to those families who joined our clean up day (sponsored by Qualico) on October 16
  • to those families who continue to support our Save-On-Foods fundraisers
  • to those families who support our restaurant initiatives
  • to those families who support our Readathon and 50/50 raffle!

Fundraisers we need the whole community to help with:

  • Skip the depot - ongoing bottle drive (available across Alberta
  • Save on foods Wye Road - send your original grocery receipts to school and we will receive a percentage of your purchase
  • Watch for more restaurant based fundraisers in November and December!

We also support the school in other ways

  • In the past we have purchased Chrome books and funded internet safety training sessions. We also provide a small stipend to each teacher to use in enriching their classroom (books, learning materials, treats and prizes for the students).

Thank you for your assistance! Please join our Facebook group “WES HOSFORD Parent Council and Fundraising Society” for up to date information on these initiatives.
