Did you know?
In the late 1930's Mr. R.L. (Reg) Harvey in partnership with the Alberta Motor Association, introduced the first school safety program in Calgary. Eventually it grew in size and now includes over 500 schools and 17,000 patrollers across Alberta. The Alberta Motor Association partners with the police, teachers and parents to ensure the continual success of this program. This was the first traffic safety program undertaken by the Alberta Motor Association and the success is evident in the record performance achieved by all participants.
Throughout the years, the School Safety Program has grown within Canada and around the world to include 20 countries and within North America alone has over 600,000 School Patrollers and 60,000 schools.
